At the end of January 2023, the combined Kitchen and Bath Industry show (KBIS) and International Builders’ Show (IBS) were held in Las Vegas. Every year, exhibitors come from all over the world to showcase the latest in innovative kitchen and bath design fixtures. In fact, KBIS and IBS is North America’s largest trade show for kitchen and bath design elements! So, what better place than KBIS and IBS to get some lighting inspiration for your next project? From overhead fixtures to new-age lighting solutions, here are four modern lighting solutions for your home, explained.
Flex Sheets by Task Lighting
Our first great innovation showed at KBIS this year is the Flexible LED Sheet Light from Task Lighting. With their new flex sheet, you can have an easy lighting solution for several different use cases. For example, if you wanted to add backlighting behind a mirror or a piece of artwork, the flex sheet provides a slim, easy-to-install solution. It also works great under translucent countertops or surrounding architectural features.
Plus, the flex sheet comes ready with outlined cut lines. All you have to do is cut along those lines, and you’ve got a sheet that’s tailored to your project. Alternatively, you can cover large surfaces by connecting additional flex sheets together. It’s just a matter of pushing the connector pins into both sheets, and then you’re ready to go.
The flex sheet is also cutting-edge because it’s designed to have extremely efficient heat dissipation. So, in other words, the flex sheet generates almost zero heat! Combine that with its long-lasting illumination life of 30,000 hours, and you can see just why the flex sheet is top of the line for 2023.
Silicone Solutions Flexyled Tape by Richelieu
For an easy-to-install ambience lighting solution, look no further than Flexyled AT6 tape. This LED tape is covered in diffusing, silicone coating technology that casts light similarly to a spotlight. Plus, it’s flexible to work with! So, if you’re looking for under-furniture or countertop display lights, Flexyled allows you to add depth to a room with minimal hassle.
In terms of installation, Flexyled tape proves to be easy to work with. Each set comes with a high-strength 3M© adhesive base that’s built to last. Flexyled can also be installed into existing grooves within your home, such as underneath countertops.
This LED tape is designed to work with you. It comes in a variety of sizes, from just over 6 ½ feet all the way up to over 9 ½ feet. Or you can size it down by cutting near the scissor symbol on the tape. After you cut, all you have to do is add transparent silicone to the cut end and you’re good to go. What a simple way to achieve a professional look in your home!
The UNIKA Puck Light with USB Connectivity
Our third lighting innovation is UNIKA’s LED Luminaire with USB ports. This puck light comes as the latest in their new generation of puck lights. With two USB ports per fixture, these puck lights combine style and utility for a truly unique lighting option. Plus, the luminaire’s 15-degree angle ensures that your countertop will be fully lit, so you don’t have to sacrifice lighting quality for function.
Another part of the genius of this luminaire is its placement. Because it lights countertops from above, your counterspace is free and clear for easy cleanup. No more worrying about avoiding power outlets as you go! What’s more, that placement also gives you more visual design freedom. So, now you can have a
As for installation, this puck light has the added benefit of not needing any cabinet drilling or housing. Combine that with the wire-management-stress it’ll save you, and you’ve got an overhead power and lighting solution that’s hard to beat.
The Lighted Power Strip by Task Lighting

Another 2-in-1 solution showcased at KBIS this year was Task Lighting’s Lighted Power Strip. This power strip comes fully assembled with LED lighting and up to 8 outlets all in one sleek unit. Plus, the lights inside are also customizable! TandemLED tunable-white technology allows you to choose your preferred lighting temperature or update it at any time.
The secret behind the bright, even lighting of this fixture is in the power source. The lighted power strip can power multiple lights simultaneously because it uses a remote power supply. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that this product isn’t the most suited for DIY. Due to its complexity in installation, Task Lighting strongly suggests installation by a licensed electrician. Not to worry – reach out to us at HArts Design+Build, and we can take care of that for you!
